Vithas joins Madrid Quantum (MadQuantum), the largest quantum communications project in Spain and which will build the largest network in Europe with a radius of 30 kilometers that will connect the main Madrid research centers and the public and private institutions participating in the consortium.

Vithas, the only health group partner of MadQuantum, will test in its hospitals the advantages of quantum communication in the security of sensitive data such as patient medical records, as well as its accuracy and reliability in performing remote surgeries and other telemedicine services.

The project, coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Madrid, is part of the Quantum Communications Program of the Complementary Plans, a research program co-governed and co-financed between the Government and the autonomous communities, whose objective is to support the European quantum industry to guarantee the security of communications against multiple threats. The programme has an overall budget of €73 million and will run for two years.
